2 types of spinal cord injuries
1. Incomplete. Over 60% of all injuries to the spinal cord are considered incomplete. With this type of injury, some nerve signals can still be sent along the spinal cord to the brain and you may still have some movement and sensation.
2. Complete. Complete spinal cord injuries are less common, but more severe. If you have a complete injury, the nerves below the point of injury cannot communicate at all with the brain anymore, causing paralysis below the location of the injury.
At Pickett Dummigan Weingart, our attorneys represent clients suffering from both incomplete and complete spinal injuries. No matter the severity of your injury, we want to help.

Quick Answers from Our Attorneys
Q: What is the process for filing a spinal cord injury claim?
“Like all personal injury cases, spinal injury claims are complicated. First, you need to conduct a thorough investigation to prove that another party is liable for your injuries. Then, if this other party (the defendant) decides to settle, you’ll have to successfully negotiate with an aggressive insurance company or attorney who wants to pay the least amount possible for your claim. If the defendant doesn’t want to settle, the case will go to trial — which is a whole separate and complicated process. Thankfully, with the right attorney by your side, you don’t have to worry about any of this. We’ll take care of everything so you can focus on healing from your injuries.”
